Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2)

Description of Exam

The Texas Success Initiative Assessment 2.0 (TSIA2) is the college entrance exam. It is computer-adaptive, which means the test adapts to the examinee’s ability level. The TSIA2 is utilized to determine college placement.

 The TSIA2 consists of the following sections:

  • English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR)

      -ELAR section may include an Essay

  • Mathematics

The TSIA2 is not a timed exam. Students work at their own pace. Test scores are generated upon total completion of exam.

 For score interpretation, students must visit an advisor/their high school counselor, per their enrollment status.

 

Procedure for Testing

In order to test, follow these steps:

  1. Complete LC application in order to obtain your Palomino ID number (PID).
  2. Complete the mandatory Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA) from home. The PAA is a state requirement for all first-time TSIA2 test-takers. The PAA can be completed here
  3. Obtain Assessment Permit from the Advisors at the Student Success Center (Ft. McIntosh: Lerma Pena 201 / South Campus: Billy Hall 131)
  4. Process payment of exam fees at the Bursar’s Office (Ft. McIntosh: Lerma Pena 201 / South Campus: Billy Hall A117).
  5. Report to the Assessment Center during testing hours with the following items:
  • Paid Assessment Permit
  • Photo ID (contact Assessment Center for approved list of IDs)

Testing Schedule

The TSIA2 is administered on a walk-in basis only.

TSIA2 walk-in hours are as follows:

 Ft. McIntosh Campus

  • Monday - Thursday : 8:00am - 1:00pm
  • Friday : 8:00am - 8:30am

      (Only the Math exam is administered on Friday)

 South Campus

  • Monday AND Thursday : 8:00am - 1:00pm

      (Tuesday & Wednesday office is CLOSED)

  • Friday : 8:00am - 8:30am

      (Only the Math exam is administered on Friday)

*Students arriving past cut-off hours will not be allowed to test.

**Paid Assessment Permit AND Photo ID are required for every testing session.

 

Testing Fees

All fees must be paid at the Bursar’s Office prior to testing. Fees must be paid every time you test.

 Initial Assessment: $18.00 (ELAR & Math)

 Re-Testing:

  • $18.00 for ELAR (with Essay) & Math
  • $12.00 for ELAR (with Essay)
  • $6.00 for ELAR MC (without Essay)
  • $6.00 for Essay only
  • $6.00 for Math

 Student’s advisor/school counselor must determine what sections of the TSIA2 a student must take.
